Plant Magic Coco Supreme creates a highly controlled environment in which every plant nutrient can be measured and adjusted as required. Some improvements have recently been made to the recipe. Originally, Plant Magic Coco Supreme was a completely inert substrate – it contained no live ingredients. The new recipe includes all the basic ingredients of the original substrate— coconut fibre (coir), fytocell, and perlite— but with a small addition of being pre-fertilised for 6-8 weeks!
The ingredients list of Plant Magic Coco Supreme is purposefully simplified so growers have the greatest freedom when it comes to balancing their plants’ nutrition. The substrate’s minimal ingredients were included for the following purposes:
Plants need a whole host of organic compounds, microorganisms, and micro-nutrients to thrive. Known as coir, the coconut fibre in Plant Magic Coco Supreme is chosen specially for its high quality. This coir is sourced from India’s largest and most professional producer. The coco is washed to reduce the salt, therefore creating an EC-balanced environment. The coir is then buffered with a calcium-magnesium solution to stop the substrate from absorbing all the calcium in the substrate, which your plants use to build strong cells. Coco Supreme is then pre-fertilised with all the beneficial nutrients required by plants, ensuring that this substrate provides your plants with 6-8 weeks of nutrition. This makes this media highly absorbent, nutritious, and clean environment in which to grow plants.
Fytocell is an organic, biodegradable substrate added to the peat soil to improve its water absorption and air permeability. It has an open-cell structure which, much like a sponge, increases the substrate’s water and air retention. The natural water and air retention properties of fytocell help to feed and aerate the roots as they grow. Alongside the fytocell, perlite pebbles improve water retention in the soil, but their main function is to improve aeration. Well aerated soil helps to reduce the occurrence of rot in the root network.
The simple composition of Plant Magic Coco Supreme encourages root development, allowing for a more rapid uptake of vital nutrients and elements. Coco Supreme is designed to be used with all Plant Magic base nutrients. Compared to the process of nutrient uptake in soil, the nutrients and fertilisers added to this media will be absorbed directly by the plants’ root system.
